How to Involve Cats and Dogs in Weddings

Make Your Fur Baby Part of Your Wedding

Pet owners are increasingly coming to us asking for specific pieces to make their canine best friend look amazing on their wedding day. As a leading dog lifestyle brand and supplier of fashion forward dogwear, without a doubt, we love the idea of including your pup in your wedding. Dogs adore being included in their owners’ lives, and for the bride and groom, having their beloved pet around at milestone moments can mean the world.

Letting Your Pup Know They Are Special to You

Bupa Pet Insurance recently asked us to share a few tips on how to have a seamless ceremony with your four-legged best friend included. We were thrilled to share our tips gleaned from our experience in this area.

As we told Bupa Pet Insurance for the article ‘How to Involve Cats and Dogs in Weddings‘, one such story involved helping a bride-to-be find an adorable bandana for her aging Pomeranian, Jack. The woman returned after the wedding to show us a video of Jack running ahead of her down the aisle assisted by a wheel cart (Jack had unfortunately lost his ability to use all four legs). The video blew us away it was so moving; reminding us how lucky we are to be part of such momentous occasions!

Dogs bring us so much joy; it’s great to be able to let them know how special they are by including them in our lives and dressing them in fashionable and functional items. Our stylish collars, leads and bandanas help make your dog stand-out and attract endless affection from your friends and family at your wedding – not to mention how cute they’ll look in all the photos!

Surviving the Ceremony

One of the greatest things about dogs is that they all have a unique personality. While your neighbour’s Bichon Frise may be able to quietly sit in someone’s lap for an entire ceremony, your Great Dane may be a little less compliant. So it’s important to respect your pet’s character. If your dog can walk down the aisle with you without eating up all the rose petals strewn on the ground, then by all means, bring them for the show! If, on the other hand, you have an energetic, mischievous Pug, then you may want to leave your dog out of the actual ceremony and only include them in the photos.

That way your pet can still be a part of your amazing day, without worrying about them disturbing your guests or causing you undue stress. Also, if you do bring your dog along, make sure you have a designated pet-sitter – someone who can whisk them away if they start barking at your uncle or sniffing around the wedding cake. Consider your pet’s needs and make a decision from there and – most importantly – have a fantastic wedding!

The 2016 street festival season has kicked off and – despite the crazy, wild weather, we’ve managed to survive the winds and Super Furry festival, Norton St Italian Festa, Penrith Real Festival and Double Bay Festival are all done and dusted!

We still have a few more coming up including Avalon Market Day on 20 November 2016.

#FlashbackFriday for our 4 year anniversary

Today marks four years since our very first pop-up with Haus of Harley so we took a look back for a cheeky comparison to how we look now.

It’s been a kick-ass four years – thanks for all your support!

Summer styles for fashion-forward hounds

Haus of Harley Dogwear is pleased to showcase two new styles of designer collar and leads as part of their Spring / Summer 2016 collection.

If dogs went to summer festivals then SHIBORI is what they would wear. Eye-catching and on-trend, this simulated tie-dye is vibrant and looks just as good in urban settings as it does in the great outdoors.

Unlike most other brands, Haus of Harley print directly to the nylon webbing meaning that your four-legged bestie’s favourite design gets maximum exposure by being visible from both sides of the collar and lead. And the other good news? Like all HOH designs, they are colourfast and machine washable.

Down the coast, by the pool or indoors for #netflix, SHIBORI is the perfect combination of fashion and function. Available in a traditional Indigo hue, as well as Coral Pink.

SHIBORI Collars and Leads are now available online at www.hausofharley.com or via the Haus of Harley stand at Sydney’s iconic Paddington Markets. $18 – $22.

Autumn 2016 Lookbook

Autumn in Australia means warm days and cool nights. Urban outings are a must.

Photographed in March 2016 at a landmark, historic recreation space in Sydney’s Paddington, our Autumn 2016 shoot features the Metron Collar and Lead set in Lake – and stars an Alaskan Malamute named Cooper and his dad, Sydney DJ and producer Mason Andrews.

Spring / Summer 2015 Lookbook

Photographed in December 2015 at a secluded port in Sydney, our Spring / Summer 2015 shoot focuses on a selection of pratical accessories – showcased on Zeus, a blue staffy boy with a lot of energy and heart.

Summer for us means being outdoors, enjoying our surrounds, catching up with friends – and plenty of trips to the beach with our dogs. The great thing about all our walkwear is that they are colour-fast, durable and quick-dry. Plus, as you can tell from Zeus, they stand up to the test of a bigger dog with lots of play in him!
