We’re pretty stoked that Pretty Fluffy hand-picked our SIDESHOW Collar for inclusion on their list of 10 Colourful + Cute Dog Collars for the current season.
SIDESHOW has been a hugely popular design – for both collars and leads – since we introduced it at Dog Lovers Show in Melbourne earlier in 2015 and its wonderful to see it being recognised alongside such stunning, international dogwear brands.
We don’t even have words to say how blown away we are by the response to our stand at the 2nd annual Sydney Dog Lovers Show! We’re beyond pleased that visitors not only enjoyed the shows, information and dogs, but that so many visited HOH and grabbed a bargain with our show-exclusive $5 Pop-up Silicone Bowls – or one of our new collar and lead designs.
Though we were flat-out busy, we managed to squeeze in some catch-ups with our colleagues from Personalised Pet, The Sophisticated Pet, Gourmet Dog Barkery, Appealing Images, Paws for Thought Rescue, Wooftastic Tasty Treats, Pods4Pets, Pawsonality, Save Our Strays and RSPCA NSW. We have to thank these guys for the love and support too!
When the opportunity arose for HOH to join a host of other fashion retailers in Westfield Sydney we couldn’t resist! 100 Squared brings the very best pop-up retailers (including fast-fashion, jewellery and beautiful LUKA Candles) to Westfield Sydney – located directly beneath the Sydney Tower – and meshes it seamlessly with affordable staples such as Zara, Supre, Cotton On and General Pants. It’s truly a melting pot of styles, tastes and budgets as upstairs you will also find iconic fashion-houses like Prada, Luis Vuitton and Chanel.

Wow – what an epic Sunday! Haus of Harley took part in the annual Ku-ring-gai Dogs’ Day Out at St Ives Showground. This is one of our favourite events as it’s always so much fun to see so many puppies walk away with some new HOH swag.
A few even we’re lucky enough to win themselves a Barking Basics collar and lead set.
We were also at Eat Shop Love at Macarthur Square where our Darby’s Doggie Delights free-range Chicken Jerky treats were a hit with the Campbelltown doggies. It was awesome to see so many shoppers out embracing the day despite how chilly it was!
Perhaps the busiest day on the Haus of Harley calendar every year is the RSPCA Million Paws Walk. We’ve been lucky enough to have been a part of this event now for the last 3 years and we love it.
Seeing people and their dogs enjoying themselves and supporting a great cause is amazing. It’s always busy day for us with so many people dropping by our stand and 2015 saw a lot of fittings for our Barking Basics Soft Mesh Harnesses and Collars – so much so that it was over before we knew it!
We always have a great time and can’t wait to be a part of this awesome event next year!

When we adopted Harley into our lives we understood that she was a very special dog because of her background. She was such a loving and affectionate girl but Harley never really learnt to play – either with toys or even with other dogs. Sure, she got along well with animals and people of all shapes, sizes, ages and breeds but she was a reserved girl nonetheless – certainly not the type to chase a ball. We just accepted that this was Harley.
It was with a lot of trepidation that we introduced Darby into our household some nine months later. Without having been privy to his background it felt as though we invited the unknown – and in a way we did. Darby was small. Underweight, confused and scared of people (especially me towering over him at 6ft) it took a bit to get Darby settled but we were thrilled to see an instantaneous bond between he and Harley. As Darby’s health returned his personality broke through and we found an affectionately clingy and playful little man.
Whatever his background, Darby certainly loves squeaky toys. We have never kept any toys in the house because they would be useless on Miss Harley, so we only discovered this penchant for plastic as a photographer tried to get Darby to pose for a shoot we participated in. Darby loves hearing the toys squeak, loves holding them in his mouth and walking around proudly and he happily relinquishes them so I can throw and he can retrieve.
We’ll never know if Darby used to have his own toys before coming to live with us or if he was even allowed to play. Maybe it’s an instinct thing? Whatever the case, it made me smile to present him with his very own squeeker. But it made me smile even wider when I watched him, after having a good play, climb up on the lounge and place his squeeker next to a sleeping Harley so she would see it when she woke. It’s your turn. I’ll teach you to play, Harley.
I think most involved in the pet industry know that it can be a very exciting and fast-paced one – and also quite competitive (we are running businesses after all). The team at HAUS OF HARLEY spend a good deal of our time bringing our product to customers via shopping centre pop-ups, trade shows and boutique market events and we absolutely love doing this – but it can be a bit “business, business, business” at times. That’s why we get so excited when invited to charity fun days like the excellent Dogs’ Day Out at Boronia Park, Epping to raise funds for Taloodles.
Taloodles is a relatively new non-profit devoted to acquiring and providing training for Labradoodles to act as therapy and assistance dogs for people suffering from cognitive, intellectual, neurological or physical impairment. These special dogs can be trained to perform specific tasks but a lot of their “assistance” comes from providing unconditional love and companionship to their companions. Each dog undegoes six months of training at a cost of around $7000 and Taloodles then provide these wonderful animals free-of-charge to those in need.
We couldn’t be happier to support such an awesome cause and help to raise further funds to allow Taloodles to do what they do and the added bonus is getting out in the sunshine and up close and personal with all the four-legged shoppers! It’s very easy to get stuck in a number-crunching headspace when you run a micro-business but Dogs’ Day Out certainly reminded us why we love doing what we do!
